Passages to the Northwest : the Europe they left and the Australia they discovered, 1788-1858

O'Rourke, Michael
Books, Manuscripts
This book traces the author's settler forbears and their migration to new lives in Australia. Some forebears sailed out of Ireland and England. Others came out of Scotland, where lowland farmers were quietly creating an epitome of capitalist farming. By 1860, most of the author's ancestors had made their way to the inner northwest of New South Wales. They settled as publicans and sheep-farmers.
