Angus Macfadyen stars as Robert the Bruce in this historical biopic set in the 14th century. After declaring himself King of Scotland, Robert the Bruce suffers a number of military defeats and goes into hiding when a hefty bounty is placed on his head by King Edward of England. Finding refuge in an isolated croft where the widowed Morag (Anna Hutchison) lives with her children, Robert is nursed back to health and hidden from those who wish to profit from his capture. As winter passes Robert decides to challenge the Scottish noblemen who betrayed him and attempts to unite Scotland and fight for independence from England. The cast also features Jared Harris, Patrick Fugit, Talitha Bateman and Kevin McNally.
